Collection: Hidden Folk Ornaments

The in-between times are times of magic; the space between seasons, such as solstice, or times of transition in one's life.  These are the times when the hidden folk, or Huldufólk, make themselves known to us. There are countless myths concerning these hidden beings, which include elves, little people, fairies and more.  Hidden folk, like nature, can be beautiful, fierce and unpredictable.

I am intrigued by how these beings reoccur in the mythology of various cultures across the world.   Perhaps they are real (their presumed existence has certainly halted road construction in Iceland), or perhaps, as Joseph Campbell states, myths are meant to help us experience our lives with a resonance within our own inner most being.   Either way, they certainly help us experience the world with a little bit more magic and awe.

These ornaments were inspired by the hidden folk, in particular the little people.  This is how I envision them. They are wild and very much forces of nature, and like many tales of the Huldufólk, they wear brightly colored clothing and are nature’s most ardent protectors.
